Ukyo Kuonji is at the front of the classroom cooking okonomiyaki when Ranma finally recognizes "him" as an old childhood friend "Ucchan", who Ranma thought was a boy. Ranma recalls, in a flashback, their relationship, remembering Ranma rushing toward Ukyo's father's okonomiyaki cart and jumping over Ukyo to win the challenge and get an okonomiyaki as a result. The scene shown here is just before Ranma jumps over Ukyo. It shows a young Ranma, young Ukyo, the okonomiyaki cart, and Ukyo's father. Of course, we later find out, as the memory is flushed out more clearly, that Genma Saotome took the okonomiyaki cart and abandoned Ukyo. The cart was given to Genma by Ukyo's father in exchange for Genma's commitment of Ranma as Ukyo's fiance and promise to take Ukyo with them.
