Ranma is finding out that the challenge (on which Happosai had led Ranma to believe Ranma's entire career as a martial artist depended) was nothing more than a game played every ten years by Happosai, Cologne, and their cronies. He is upset at Happosai for deceiving him and threatens revenge.
The dark area on Ranma outlines the area of Ranma protected from a bomb blast by Ranma holding Happosai up between himself and the bomb.
