This is a recurring scene in the Ranma series. Soun and Genma are sitting in the Tendo residence playing Shogi.
Although Genma is the known loafer, he is shown working for Dr. Tofu in some of the early episodes. Soun is never seen actually teaching martial arts in the Tendo Dojo at anytime in the series. Makes one wonder, doesn't it?
