In this session, there is a hint of Faye's backstory. The guy in the cel is Whitney Hagas Matsumoto, part of a con team involved in originally awaking Faye from cryo sleep.
Faye takes Whitney off the Bebop, and Spike pursues, eventually damaging Faye's ship. This scene occurs just after Faye has fired some missiles at Spike and they have exploded. Faye is looking back to see what damage has been done to Spike's ship.
The background is sky with an island in the distance and is non-matching, since this scene takes place in space. Although I normally don't show cels with completely unrelated non-matching backgrounds, I have shown the cel with the background because the blue sky makes a better contrast than the dark black of space. The B5 cel layer has Faye. The A1 layer has Whitney.
I purchased this cel from Anime Link during their sale in November 2009. I find this to be an incredibly sexy image of Faye. The shadow, eyes, and slightly parted lips combine to create an incredibly seductive pose. The irony is that this brief instant occurs in the mist of an intense action sequence in the session first introducing us to the vulnerable, lost child side of Faye.
